The Unfinished Symphony – Hannah Lemberg

Transcending the bounds of an almost medieval, male-dominated Polish shtetl, a teenage Hannah Kaufman emigrated to Palestine, where she learned Hebrew, English and the art of manual labour. When World War II breaks out, she joined the British Army and, as a nurse, saw service in both Egypt and Italy.
After the war, Hannah, as Hannah Lemberg, having married a British soldier she’d met in Italy, built her life and together with Max, raised a family in England and later Australia.
Although keeping a traditional Jewish home, Hannah was concerned with women’s rights and world peace, particularly Nuclear Disarmament.
