I AM A SURVIVOR

Holocaust memoirs often refer to 'the World that was', a diverse and culturally rich European landscape in which Jewish communities flourished for generations before they were obliterated from history during WWII.

Alex's 'World that was' brings to light the life of a very poor family where love and a strict adherence to religion define every aspect of existence - in striking contrast to his horrific experiences at the hands of the Nazis and, later, his immigration to and life in Australia.

These are stories told with a wonderful sense of humour and pathos, revealing the man Alex has become, having 'Survived' no matter what!
