Mosaic panel, Australia c1923, tesserae, terrazzo, donated by John Penrose, SJM Collection. The mosaic was part of the donor's flooring when he purchased his home outside Sydney. Although it is not known who designed the mosaic, the style resembles that of Italian craftsman Pietro Melocco. The mosaic was originally created for Central Synagogue in Grosvenor Street, Bondi Junction, which opened in 1923
