Challah Cover – Tree of Life – Museum Collection, Rose colour
Choose options
Bring depth and beauty to your Shabbat table with this striking challah cover inspired by a woodblock design by artist Ilya Schor (1904-1961). Originally created for Abraham Joshua Heschel’s The Earth is the Lord’s, this stylised tree design is rich with spiritual symbolism and artistic detail.
The tree, a central motif, is surrounded by intricate imagery: blooming roses evoke God’s love in the world, while birds represent hope and renewal. A fawn nestled among the branches speaks to the cyclical nature of life.
Hidden within the tree are Hebrew letters with profound meaning—Aleph, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and of Adonai (God’s name), symbolises the mystery and transcendence of the Divine. Its counterpart, Samech, alludes to Ein Sof, the infinite light of God, reinforcing the sacred, eternal presence infused in creation.
This challah cover is not just a functional piece—it is a work of spiritual art, inviting reflection, connection, and reverence into your Shabbat experience.
Digitally printed on high-quality linen-textured fabric, the challah cover is fully underlined with a poplin fabric, adding both structure and a subtle touch of colour.
