Challah Cover - Rose, Bondi EV

Bondi EV creates handcrafted homewares and textile art inspired by the beauty, symbolism, and protective power of the Evil Eye.

In Jewish tradition, the Evil Eye is known as Ayin Hara (Hebrew for "bad eye") and refers to the negative energy that can arise from envy, jealousy, or ill intent. For centuries, protective symbols have been used to guard against these influences and invite positivity, blessing, and wellbeing into the home.

The eye motif featured throughout this collection is inspired by these ancient protective traditions. Often represented as concentric circles surrounding a central eye, the symbol is believed to help ward off negativity and offer protection from harmful intentions.

Each challah cover and matzah cover is individually handmade by Sydney-based designer Robyn Pakula of Bondi EV. Crafted from soft cotton and cotton-blend velvet fabrics, every piece features delicate raw-edged detailing and is meticulously hand-stitched using lustrous and metallic threads, creating a unique work of textile art.

No two pieces are exactly alike, celebrating the beauty of slow craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
