The original mosaic: Mosaic panel Australia, c. 1923, tesserae, terrazzo donated by John Penrose, SJM Collection The mosaic was part of the donor's flooring when he purchased the home outside Sydney. Although it is not known who designed the mosaic, the style resembles that of Italian craftsman Pietro Melocco This mosaic was originally created for Central Synagogue in Grosvenor Street Bondi Junction, which opened in 1923
