Angel Magic – Rosalind Sharbanee Meyer

Angel Magic is a new and distinctive work of children’s fiction. It incorporates the traditions of great Edwardian children’s books, like The Secret Garden, that reflect the moral and spiritual growth of children who work together unhampered by adult intervention.

This is a fictionalised story based loosely on the events in Rosie’s War (published previously by the author) and is suitable for a younger readership.

It is an engaging novel which traces the story of Rosie’s life on a Malayan plantation and then her journey on board ship to India, fleeing Malaya. Her story continues in Bombay and tells of her relationship with a poor Portuguese-Indian boy and his mother. There are delightful descriptions of their adventures in Bombay, which are juxtaposed with the hardships faced by her parents in prison camps. The theme of a guiding angel is strong throughout the novel.

Rosalind Sharbanee Meyer is the author of A Window into Schizophrenia (2004), and Rosie’s War: Escape from Singapore (1942) which received First Prize in the 2016 non-fiction category from the Society of Women’s Writers NSW.

Proceeds from the sales of this book will be donated to the Peter Meyer Fund, which aids Schizophrenia research.
